Sentinel Named 2022 Retirement Plan Adviser of the Year by PLANADVISER Magazine

On Tues., May 3, 2022, Ryan Campagna accepted the 2022 Plan Adviser of the Year award in the Mentorship category on behalf of Sentinel Pension Advisors, Inc. After being a finalist for several years prior, Campagna said "winning was well worth the wait, as this category specifically showcases that Sentinel's doing the right thing to prepare the next generation of retirement plan advisers."

Ryan recognizes that his success as a mentor is owed largely to John and Jim Carnevale for being great role models to him as he began his career in the industry nearly 20 years ago. "I learned that our goals, purpose, and values define what Sentinel strives to be as an organization. Behaviors, however, are the embodiment of who we actually are, what we require from ourselves, and what we demand of others. I believe that “how we behave” is what defines us as mentors. That is why I constantly challenge myself to be a positive role model and to pay it forward."

The 2022 Plan Adviser of the Year awards were issued in six new categories, in a move away from the prior strategy of recognizing individuals and teams in categories based solely on firm size. Finalists and winners were recognized in six qualitative categories, representing excellence in the following areas: Plan Sponsor Service Plan, Participant Service, Mentorship, Efforts to Improve Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), Community Impact and Giving Back, and Closing the Coverage Gap. Sentinel proudly stood as a finalist amoing Marsh McLennan Agency New England, Raffa Financial Services (a division of HUB International), and HUB Retirement and Wealth Management.


Sentinel Group and its affiliate Sentinel Pension Advisors (SPA) are not affiliated with PLANASPONSOR Magazine. SPA did not pay to be included in the survey. Nominations were solicited online from plan sponsors, working partners of these advisers, including investment vendors, accountants, attorneys and pension administrator, other retirement plan advisers (note: self-nominations were not permitted), employers and/or broker/dealers (B/Ds).
